Although the winter season seems to be fast-approaching, there is still no reason to give up our favourite Fall trend; Plaid. Contrary to what people may think of when they hear "plaid"; a baggy, Curt Cobain styled, button down shirt, the striped, multicoloured pattern comes in a variety of clothing items. If you feel like your closet lacks diversity and excitement, incorporating plaid into your style may be just what you need. So, without further adieu, here are some plaid looks for all of you who, like myself, plan to hold on to this trend until frost-bite becomes an issue.
The Boyfriend Flannel Shirt:
Because who needs a boyfriend when you can just wear a "boyfriend flannel shirt"? This item is super comfortable and laid-back, but is also versatile enough to be worn in a more formal setting. Complete the casual look with a pair of boyfriend jeans and combat boots, or dress it up with a statement necklace/earrings, a skinny jean and a pair of wedges.

The Plaid Scarf:
With the weather getting cooler, it might be wise to throw on a scarf before heading out the front door. The crisp lines and contrasting colours of a plaid scarf instantly make a simple outfit look chic and well thought-out. Throw it over any plain top or knit-sweater, then layer with a form flattering coat and you're set to conquer the cold (while looking fabulous at the same time).

The Plaid Skirt:
If you're trying to find a unique way of incorporating plaid into your style, a plaid skirt a-la-Clueless is always a great option. This item is sure to add vivacity to an otherwise plain outfit. Pair with a plain long sleeved top or chunky sweater, add some knee high socks and a pair of booties, and you'll have people asking "Is this like a Noxzema commercial, or what?" Clueless reference aside, the plaid skirt is worth a try.
