After the hustle of final exams and bustle of so many family gatherings, let's hope you had a relaxing break and of course, a wild New Year's Eve. Whether you celebrated at a raucous house party or in an overcrowded nightclub surrounded by drunk bar stars, we at F&LS hope you rang it in right! Our writers remained ever vigilant in spotting the New Years fashion trends so that you wouldn't have to. Here are some of the top trends we saw and hope to see next year!
In general, the more fashion-forward party goers ditched the gawdy glitter and instead decided to play up metallics and holographics. And rightfully so! Save the bedazzling for your jewellery box. A more reserved, but still dynamic style was the star of the evening, as evident by the following trends.
In general, the more fashion-forward party goers ditched the gawdy glitter and instead decided to play up metallics and holographics. And rightfully so! Save the bedazzling for your jewellery box. A more reserved, but still dynamic style was the star of the evening, as evident by the following trends.
Holographic: Psychedelic and chic, you can go all out or take a minimalist approach, much like what you would see in Urban Outfitters holographic nail polish. A great choice for making an all-black ensemble pop!
Shimmering Satin: A fabric that is fluid and smooth, satin allows you to hit the dance floor and never miss a beat! The reflection is also spectacular. Swish and sway the night away in a body hugging minimal satin gown.
Shoes of a Different Colour. Yes, yes, yes to Air Maxes that aren’t white or black! If your New Year's Eve consisted of a kickback with your closest friends, we hope your shoes stood out from the pile at the front door. That way everyone can know that at least one person came to celebrate in style!
Gold Rush. Our all time favourite metal to accessorize has become the focus of our celebratory wardrobe. If you made gold the focus of your outfit, there’s no question that you were the centre of attention, especially if you paired golden pieces with a more reserved palette. A nude tonal range is especially noteworthy for gaining the RIGHT kind of New Year's attention.
Do any of these ring a bell, or were you all to busy "celebrating" to remember the trends of the night? Either way we at the Fashion and Lifestyle Society hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We can't wait to see what trends gain popularity in 2015, and we certainly can't wait to celebrate the end of this year in style as well. Cheers!
